WHAT IS RADON?

Radon (Rn) is a colorless, odorless, tasteless radioactive gas that is produced from the uranium present in almost all soils.  As radon undergoes radioactive decay, it gives off radiation and becomes another radioactive element. This is repeated several times. The elements that radon changes into are called radon daughters or radon progeny and gives off alpha particles, beta particles, and gamma rays. This radiation gives a radiation dose to people when they are exposed to radon. Radon enters the home through the basement slab, crawl spaces, and through the walls of the basement.

Radon is measured in terms of its activity (curies). The curie (Ci) is a measurement that tells us how much a radioactive material decays every second in a liter of air. Currently the Environmental Protection Agency recommends mitigation when the average level is 4 pCi/l or greater in the home, and recommends considering action at 2 pCi/l. The World Health Organization recommends mitigation at 2.7 pCi/l or greater. Radon is not safe at any level and every home is different. The only way to know how much radon is present in your home is to get tested.

Radon & Basement Water Armor guarantees your post-mitigation rate to be 2 pCi/l or less, and often results will be 1 pCi/l or less.
